SARA KENDALL SEE THROUGH

Following her stunning TMR debut ‘You Don’t Own It’, NYC chanteuse Sara Kendall is back with another brooding alt-pop track ‘See Through’ that manages to entice, hypnotise and persuade the listener to reconsider the idea of choice. The breathy, subdued textures of ‘See Through’ may seem at odds with the carefree summer hits clogging up mainstream radio, but it's undeniably in keeping with today's cultural climate. While revelations around celebrity sex scandals continue on, the idea that the victims had a choice in the matter is one still contested by guilty parties. With her unflinching voice, this song burns a hole in that argument. Reminiscent of Fever Ray’s ‘If I Had A Heart’, the deep tribal beats are less a declaration of war, but a reminder that the tides have turned, the waters are rising and there's nothing to stop this tidal wave of change. - Hannah Thacker
